Everyday you update your blog. You write about your life and post it on your site. But no one reads them. Then you try writiting about latest technology and gadgets hoping that you will get some comments from readers on the next day but still, not many people comes to your site. But you still continue posting and updating your site everyday, every night. After some period, you realized that you need to promote and advertise your site but you don’t know how.

Here I will share with you some tips on how to promote and get more readers to your site. I’m no expert in site advertising or marketing but I have some little knowledge that I want to share with you. :d

Join bloggers forum

Join and participate in bloggers forum or portals. Introduce yourself and brief politely about your site. Tell them what your site is about. I’m sure in every bloggers forum, there is a section where you can promote or show off your blog. Post something there.

Describe your blog and invite them to visit. If the forum admin enable signature in post (usually it is enable), put your site link in your signature. That way, peoples can see your site link when you post or reply someone’s post on the forum.

Visit other blogs

You must start it first. Don’t wait people come to your site. Visit other member’s blog and drop them some comments about their blog posts. Don’t give comments say something like, “Hey, nice site!” or “I love your site. Cool!” but give comments that relate to their posts. If they read your comment, they also will visit back to your site.

Another way is, if your post same like other people post, trackback their post. I assume you know how to use trackback. :p

Submit to Blog Directory/Topsites

There are many blog directories in the Internet. Submit your site to as many blog directories as you can. Almost of them are free but some of them you need to put HTML code on your site before your site been listed in their directory.

And join topsites too. If your site is on top rank, there will be more peoples now about your site.

Signature in Email

Put your site link in your email signature. So each time you send or reply email, the receiver will see it. So they’ll know that you have a site and they will visit your site to see what your blog is about.

Join Exchange Link program

This program is a two way feedback. You put their site link on your site and they will put yours on their site. The system goes like that. Beside increase your page rank, it also can bring more peoples to your site.

Public Bookmarking

Submit your contents to any public book marking sites such del.icio.us or Furl, etc. There are many to list here. But make sure that you submit on specific topic or people will ignore it.

Submit to Search Engine

Submit your site link to popular search engine such as Google, Yahoo, etc. There are some sites that can submit your site to 20 search engines for free.

Ping your site

This is a must. Ping your site to Pingoat.com or Pingomatic.com each time you update your site. Both of them give the best ping-ing services.

Well, if you have make all these things I’m sure in one week or maybe less, you will have regular visitors that come to your site. But make sure you have good contents on your site or you will loose them one by one.

If you have any comments or want to add up your own tips, feel free to say it in the comment form. Well, thanks for your time and hope this helps!

Once you begin to set up to promote your blog, here are some SEO tips you can use that will teach you how to blog.

The first thing you want to do is make sure your keyword research is complete. When you start to put your new content on your blog you want to put the keyword in the title once in the first few sentences and the last few sentences. Use a few different ways of words in your keyword research.

When you host the domain name on a server I suggest that you put your blog onto a primary domain where the primary domain name includes the main keyword that you are trying to target. The main page that you use is very important because 50 to 60% of your links over time to point to that page. That landing page has to have a little different strategy than the other promotional strategies that you use for the entire blog.

Make sure if you’re selling a product to have good ad copy. Always attach a blog to your website‘s product or services. This will help you in your marketing efforts.

Once you have a few articles on your blog that are optimized for the main keyword, this is where you’ll target the best traffic potential in some of these how to blog tips and tricks. The first step is to social book mark your articles, submit your RSS feed to various RSS directories, aggregators and search engine submission directories.

Now you’ll get some good links over time but the link value is very low. Keep up a good social book marking plan but make sure you stay consistent.

Because the link value is low you’ll want to have articles written up and submitted through article directories. I suggest using other blog networks and get some outbound links that way in your signature. Everything that you do you want to make it as natural as possible so that everything appears quite organic.

That is why book marking is good to use because it drips out these links over a period of time and it’s not an overnight task where you wake up and have thousands of links.

Most people over look these methods when learning how to blog because of the low value but over time the search engine spiders will index your site. It just might take a bit longer. This method on how to blog will take a week or two and sometimes a month or so for the indexing to happen, but he effort is really worth it in the long run. Now that you have learned some of these tips and tricks on how to blog, start applying it and reap the rewards of your success.

Getting targeted website traffic is the only way for an internet marketer to succeed. If nobody visits your website it doesn’t matter how well designed or pleasing to the eye your site is.

There are thousands of websites out there competing for the same visitors so getting targeted website traffic can seem daunting. Here are some tips that if followed methodically can help increase your traffic and with the right kinds of visitors.

Understanding your target market:

Number one is understanding who you are marketing to. Research whatever niche you are in to find out what your market is interested in. Keeping your website interesting, relevant and updated will keep your targeted market coming back to your site.

Article Writing:

Writing articles with good and original content that is interesting to your targeted audience will keep them coming back. Good articles help to promote your website and can drive more traffic to it as it becomes more popular. There are hundreds of sites that you can submit your articles to but a few hold more weight like EzineArticles, Article Dashboard and Go articles to name a few. EzineArticles still seems to carry more weight as the place to publish your articles. Always put a link back to your website in the resource box.

One way Links:

One way to get your website noticed by the search engines is for high page rank and relevant sites to be linking back to your website. Some ways of getting links back to your website is article writing with your link in the resource box, commenting in forums and leaving a link in your signature or bio box and doing the same in blogs. The relevant backlinks to your website can boost your ranking in the search engines which help drive targeted website traffic.

Search Engine Optimization:

Getting your website to appear in the top results of the search engines can boost your traffic tremendously and your site should be Search Engine Optimized with a good amount of relevant backlinks and articles and posts that are original and rich in content.

Building a list:

In internet marketing a subscriber list is a very valuable asset. Through email marketing with autoresponders and personalized news letters you can build a strong traffic base. Having a list with repeat visitors gives you marketing opportunities now and in the future.

Search engines are a an important way to generate traffic but by utilizing and combining a lot of different methods and strategies you will be able to generate more targeted and quality traffic to your site.

I’ve often been asked the question “How does article marketing work?”, so I thought I would give an answer for the uninitiated.

Article marketing has been around as long as there have been printed publications. It is definitely not new to the internet, though many people associate it with internet marketing. If you were to ask you local newspaper editor what percentage of their content was actually researched and written by staff, you might be surprised to learn that nearly 70% of the content in most papers is actually submitted to the paper by business owners, or by other people that are looking for publicity.

So how does article marketing work? Well on the internet of course, things look a little bit different than the standard process that happens with newspapers. In fact, on the internet, it is even easier.

You, as a marketer, need merely write an article that is in some way related to the product or service you are providing. It does NOT have to be about your product, but merely something interesting or useful in the same niche, or in some way related.

Once you have your article, you can submit it to online article directories, for free. Ideally, you want to have optimized your article for a particular keyword. The article should be kept short, so that people haven’t lost interest by the time they reach the end.

Now, the final part is what really makes article marketing work on the internet. Along with every article, the writer is given the opportunity to submit a resource box, sometimes called a signature box. This resource box should be used to present an offer to the reader, or at bare minimum, send them back to your website.

The value therefore flows both directions. The article directory gets a good deal, because people like yourself are constantly providing them with free and unique content, and the marketer gets a good deal because they are able to get their information in front of a much larger audience.

Depending on the directory that you submit to, there will be a short term burst of traffic from the article you write. However, the real power of article marketing comes from the long term value. Over time, your article (if the article directory is properly optimized) will gain rankings in the search engines. At that point you should start getting traffic from people that have searched your term directly in Google. Long term you can receive thousands of views from this, and if you have properly written your resource box you can expect to receive a percentage of those in clickthroughs to your site as well.

So, the next time you hear the question “How does article marketing work?” You’ll know the answer and you can educate the questioner!

Backlinks are a fundamental part of internet promotion, and if you are not doing everything you can to increase them, you will struggle to get traffic to your website. A backlink is a link aiming back to your website from an additional website. You need to be doing something every day to increase your backlinks in order to boost your website rankings, so below I have laid out seven ways of getting free backlinks, plus two paid ways.

Free Backlinks

1. Article promotion. If you are checking out this article on an article ezine, you will see a resource box at the base. This holds links to my sites. If you can write articles twice a week or more, and submit them to many directories, you will increase your backlinks quickly.

2. Blogging. Setting up a blog is free and it’s fun. Every time you post, give a link to your website and then submit it to social bookmarking sites. This will get you more than a few important backlinks to your blog and to your website every time you post. Search engines love blogs so do this as much as possible.

3. Blog Commenting. Look for other people’s blogs and post helpful comments. This is only legitimate if you post in blogs that allow links back to your website. Also, do properly read the post and make authentic comments, otherwise you could be accused of spamming.

4. Forums. Spend time in on the internet forums that are relevant to your business, and make sure you have a signature that has a hyperlinked keyword phrase to your website. Most forums posts stay on the internet for a long time so this can give you backlinks for a long time. Of course, it’s important that you get properly involved in forums, providing useful data and asking authentic questions. Spammers are spotted very fast and you could be banned if you just use them purely for the backlinks.

5. Link exchange. Ask other website owners if you can trade links, by providing a link to their website on yours and vice versa. This is known as mutual linking, which is not quite as influential as one-way linking, but is still worth while, especially if your link partner has a high page rank.

6. The media releases. Drive out a press release every time you provide a new product or service, or have some interesting news. Press releases contain links to your website that can create traffic immediately and in future.

7. Write Testimonials. If you join a business that has just launched, and are asked to write a testimonial, do it. These will be used in their sales pages and stay around for a extended time, giving you valuable traffic. When you get the chance, offer to write testimonials for other people in exchange for a backlink.

Paid for backlinks

1. Buy Ezine Ads. If you buy marketing in on the internet magazines you will get a backlink to your website. Purchasing numerous ads will save cash and time because you will only need one purchase to be in several magazines.

2. Buy ads on blogs. You can offer to pay for a text link on somebody else’s blog, and if they have a frequent readership this can give you enormous exposure for your website as well as enlarged backlinks.

The above thoughts are the most well known ways to obtain backlinks, but you ought to constantly use your imagination to get as many free backlinks as you can (legitimately of course). If you do this frequently you will find your website rankings just keep moving up.

Feeling frustrated paying lots of money on advertising your blog or website, just to get traffic? It is indeed a heart pain to spend money on paid advertising. How good it could be if there were free advertising methods to promote your blog and get the traffic you would hope to see! Just to help you ease your headache on this, I’ve included in this article, ways to get free unpaid advertising for your blog that works.

•Article Marketing
Article Marketing is a popular method of getting your blog link known to the pubic. This involves writing articles and posting them on online articles websites. Normally, you will get to include your link in the resource box at the end of the article. How much traffic you are able to draw to your blog will have to depend very much on the quality of the content that you wrote. If readers find that the information on the article is beneficial to them and finds you to be a credible writer, they might click on your link to find out more and this earns you traffic to your blog.

There are many article submission websites and is impossible to manually submit to all of them. You can either manually submit articles to some of the few selected popular ones or choose to use a software to submit articles to all of them automatically

For a start, if you do not have the time and is budget-constraint, I would advise you to submit manually to a few articles submission websites first.

•Participation in online forum discussion
Another way to advertise your blog address to more people is through forum discussion. You will have to create a signature whereby you can input your blog url address and this signature will be seen at the end of each posting you make in the forum. So the more active you participate in such forums’ discussion, the more exposure you will bring to your blog’s url.

However, try to participate in forums with discussion topic that is similar to your niche. In this way, this will increase the chance of getting more interested and targeted readers to your blog. (Example: Your blog is about blogging, if you post in a forum with topic under blogging, more likely that people in this particular forum are already interested in blogging and would like to find out more, therefore they are more likely to click into your link to explore.)

•Exchange links with related niche sites
This method is quite straightforward and you need to exchange links with other blogs, preferably those who are in the same niche as yours. Search engines are more likely to rank you higher in the page if you have lots of links to such popular niche sites.

To start, keep a list of all the websites that you would like to link to, preferably those who have high page ranking in google. Then create a link on your blog to link to their website. After that, ask to have them link back to you. Constantly follow up to see if they have linked to you and if they do not, simply remove their links on your own website. If they do, you just earned a link.

Like any other websites, a free blog sites also demands a great deal of marketing force to really see targeted traffic building. Here are leading methods you can use that will quickly get you started in the right direction:

1. Continual posting will intensify your blog’s ranking in search engines and is essential to the survival of any blog. A number of bloggers who have adjusted their posting frequency and analyzed the resulting traffic numbers claim three posts a week is a minimum, and three times a day is where you begin to see some serious targeted traffic.

2. Make your voice heard among the thousands of pages competing for search engine placement and ad revenue by submitting your blog RSS feed to My Yahoo!, Google’s Reader and other RSS directories and search engines.

3. Trading links or trackbacks with other bloggers in your niche is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site. Bloggers are well known as free and generous linkers. Most blog owners will readily provide abundant natural links to content that interests them and their readership or even freely create permanent links to their regularly read blogs from their own home blog pages.

4. Pinging your blog is vital if you want to make the most of all the time and effort you put into creating new content and posts. By pinging blog search engines, your blog’s content will be indexed in a much more timely manner, which could lead to additional search traffic, which could, in turn, lead to new inbound links if other bloggers who found you blog’s content interesting and link-worthy.

5. Comment on other blogs over and over. Stop by some blogs everyday and leave useful comments on all of them. If your comments help other or if they find your comment useful they will surely come to your site.

6. Take part in forums and discussion boards related to your website‘s niche. Contributing valuable info on the forum will generate website traffic from your signature link from forum users in your post. You can setup a forum signature that has your website address.

7. Tagging your blog posts is a formula of getting people to find what you’re writing, not just organizing for yourself. Sites such as Technorati and Del.icio.us allows users to tag their blog postings, making searching and sorting of blogs easier.

Lastly, good content is what will make or break a blog. On the Internet content is king and always will be. Creative content will allow you to grab your readers’ attention and hold it. Readers are the life blood of your business blog if you want to grow your business. With consistency and quality you’ll develop a loyal base of readers that will drive targeted traffic to your blog and be the cornerstone of your blog’s success.
